charitable projects
africa venture gap year, uganda/kenya 2002
From May to September 2002, I joined David McKenny to teach under-privileged children at a rural Catholic Boys' school in Uganda. We taught mainly English, full time - as did the other 19 volunteers paired up in other schools across the country.
development in action, india 2003
Between June and September 2003 I volunteered with a development NGO in India called 'DEEDS'. My partner Paul and I taught English in the slum areas of Bangalore, worked in the offices and in the charity's rural outposts.
sponsored charity hitch-hike to Morocco 2004
From March 2004, I joined forces with Dave again (my teaching partner in Africa), to raise money for Link Community Development , who work with schools in Uganda. We hitch-hiked from England to Morocco, over 1,600 miles, during the course of a week.
